By evening, the peacock stops looking decorative and starts working. The gold sun and warm background pick up lamplight, and the whole wall goes a shade richer. In a living room, it pulls the eye up and gives a plain wall a proper centrepiece, so you can keep the rest of the room quiet. Hang it above a sideboard or between two windows, roughly at eye level, with about a metre and a half of clear wall so the fanned tail has room.
